Big Vibration and Flash: The larger the blade, the more thumping vibration it generates. This is great for attracting fish in deeper or murky waters, or in conditions where they rely more on their lateral line than sight.
Strong Profile: The Size 6 blades have a larger profile, which can help mimic larger prey like shad, gizzard shad, or large minnows, attracting more substantial fish.
Retrieve Speed: The larger the blade, the more effective it can be with a faster retrieve. However, keep in mind that slower retrieves can also work depending on the species you're targeting. Experiment with both, especially for species like musky and pike, where a fast, aggressive retrieve can trigger a bite.
Water Depth & Conditions: Larger blades like the Size 6 are best for deeper water or murky conditions, where fish rely on their lateral line (sense of vibration) to locate prey. The added vibration and flash will make it more visible and detectable by larger fish in these types of waters.
Color Selection:
In murky or stained water, bright, flashy colors like gold, chartreuse, and silver will help the blade stand out.
In clearer waters or when fishing for larger, more cautious fish, natural colors like silver, white, or perch patterns can better mimic the prey species.
Fishing Techniques:
For pike or musky, consider pairing the blade with a larger spinnerbait or inline spinner, and don’t forget a steel leader to avoid bite-offs.
For walleye, the blade can be used effectively on a bottom-bouncer rig or with live bait to get the right combination of vibration and scent attraction.
For bass, try using the blade with a jig or spinnerbait in areas where fish are holding near deeper structures or drop-offs.
Musky/Pike: Combine the blade with a large spinnerbait or swimbait to attract larger fish. Fast retrieves work well, especially in shallow weedy areas.
Walleye: For trolling, pair it with a crawler harness or trolling rig to target walleye at deeper depths.
Bass: Pair with a spinnerbait or jig, and fish it slowly over submerged rocks or along deep points.
