The Berkley Ball Bearing Wire Wound Leaders provide a strong, dependable connection between your main fishing line and lure when targeting aggressive, toothy fish. Built with durable wire construction, these ready-to-use fishing leaders help protect against sharp teeth, abrasion and other conditions that can damage traditional fishing line and lead to lost fish or lures.

Also known within Berkley's current leader lineup as Steelon™ Wire-Wound Leaders, these leaders are designed for anglers who need added protection and strength when fishing for species such as northern pike, musky and other fish capable of cutting or damaging standard monofilament or fluorocarbon line.

The wire-wound construction creates a durable barrier between the fish and your main line, making these leaders an excellent choice when throwing crankbaits, jerkbaits, spoons, spinners and other artificial lures around toothy predators. Instead of tying your lure directly to vulnerable main line, the wire leader provides additional protection at the point most likely to encounter teeth and abrasion.

A ready-to-use leader also makes changing presentations simple. Anglers can quickly connect the leader to their fishing line and attach their lure without having to build a custom wire leader every time they change setups.

Multiple break strengths and leader lengths allow anglers to select a configuration that fits the lure, target species and fishing conditions. Shorter leaders provide a compact connection between the main line and lure, while longer leaders provide additional wire protection when targeting larger or more aggressive toothy fish.

Berkley offers Steelon Wire-Wound Leaders in 20 lb, 30 lb and 45 lb break strengths, with available lengths including 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 inches. This range gives anglers multiple options for matching leader strength and length to different fishing situations.

These wire leaders are especially useful when targeting northern pike and musky, but they can also be used whenever sharp teeth or abrasive conditions make a traditional monofilament or fluorocarbon leader vulnerable to damage.
